Grass

So puny, so paltry,

Always shadowed, always outshone,

Your neighbors so haughty,

Your glory unknown.

Flowers tease, trees bully, sparrows stain

Unvalued and abandoned by all.

Life’s full of pain,

But never once, do you bawl.

Cyclones come, lightning lashes,

Pedals pulverized, branches battered,

Trunks tossed, roots turned to ashes.

Plants obliterated, animals scattered.

Oh! modest grass,

In toughest times you prevail,

All others you surpass,

Hearty and hale.
