What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also know as the Global Goals, are designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all" (UN). A collection of 17 interlinked goals, ranging from 'No Poverty' (1) and 'Gender Equality' (4), to 'Decent Work and Economic Growth' (8), the goals are included in the UN Resolution called the 2030 Agenda. Each goal has specific targets and indicators to measure progress. You can find out more about the SDGs outlined by the UN here.

The Importance of Youth and SDG Education

With more children and youth in the world than at any other time in history, young people have a pivotal role to play in advocating for and taking action towards the SDGs. With advanced in technology, we see an unprecedented generation of young changemakers, entrepreneurs and leaders of tomorrow across the world. These young people need to be empowered as much as possible with tools, resources and support from all stakeholders in civil society - all to advance the SDGs.

As strong advocates for social engagement and social change through our platforms and initiatives, ISSIA is excited to be collaborating with KIDsforSDGs for an upcoming webinar on SDG education. We will also be exploring partnership opportunities to localize grassroots action for each Sustainable Development Goal here in Hong Kong. ISSIA is committed to advancing the SDGs and scaling our organization's impact.
